Study regulations at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology
1. The way of conducting classes
1. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures, seminars and exercises, as stationary or remote e-learning methods, in accordance with the applicable schedule of classes. Remote classes can be carried out in a synchronous (online communication between the student and the teacher) and asynchronous. Classes in the asynchronous formula are pursued on the SUM e-learning platform. The lecturer has the instruments to assess whether the student has seen the slides and listened to the entire lecture. It is allowed to conduct a test to assess the level of acquiring the information provided during or at the end of the classes.
2. Topics of lectures, seminars and exercises as well as any information concerning form of conducting classes, as well as the date and time of activities are available on the Department's website, in the secretary room and on the information board located in the Department.
2. Rules for admitting the student to individual classes
1. The conditions for admission to stationary classes are: punctual attendance, possession of medical protective clothing i.e., a doctor's apron or medical blouse, trousers or skirt, changeable footwear and stethoscope. In the case of e-learning classes, it is recommended to log in on time from your account to the e-learning platform to be seen on the list of meeting participants and participate throughout the meeting.
2. During the stationary classes, it is obligatory to obey the basic ethical and moral principles and show the proper attitude towards the patient and the staff of the Department.
3. During the exercises, the student depending on need is provided with personal protective equipment (masks, gloves, protective aprons, liquids for disinfection).
4. The student is required to have a theoretical knowledge according to the program of exercises and seminars, in particular to complete the required e-learning courses. Lack of this knowledge may result in failure to complete the classes with the need to make up or to pass them within the time agreed with the teacher.
5. The student is obliged to maintain medical confidentiality and protect personal data in accordance with the GDPR.6. The student is obliged to have a student ID card during classes and to show it at the request of the teacher.
3. The method and forms of making up for backlogs, including making up for classes, excuse for absence
2. The absence from the exercises should be made up by means of oral or written credit after prior arrangement with the Coordinator or his deputy, and make up for classes by participation with another exercise group. The student is obliged to do exercises in the form in which he left the classes: if he misses the exercises that were carried out online, he does them online, analogously he does the stationary exercises using the stationary method. With the consent of the exercise coordinator or his deputy, deviations from this rule are possible.
3. Absence from the seminar conducted in the intramural form should be completed by the person conducting the given seminar in the intramural form. Seminar classes carried out using the e-learning should be carried out by the seminar leader using the e-learning method. With the consent of the seminar coordinator or his deputy, deviations from this rule are possible.
4. To make up missed classes, the student must immediately make up the reason for the absence, up to 5 work days, he/she should contact the Coordinator or his deputy to arrange making up and in special situations this is specified in §15 of the Study Regulations of June 18, 2024.
5. In the event of the imposition/obligation of quarantine and for other reasons making impossible to complete stationary classes in accordance with the schedule, a new date for making up for classes will be set.
6. In exceptional circumstances, with the consent of the class Coordinator or his deputy, doing classes may be accomplished on earlier dates - before the planned classes according to the schedule, however, it should be done in the form, in which it is currently used (if classes are planned for online implementation, they are done online and if stationary system is applied they are done so).
4. Conditions and methods of conducting course credits
1. Credits for classes are made by the teacher conducting the classes. Completion of the course takes the form of written or oral credit. Failure to turn up within the arranged period (without justification) is equal to a failing grade.
2. The student is additionally assessed during exercises and seminars on the current topic of classes.
3. The scope of the required material for each day of classes is announced in the schedule.
4. Retake credit is oral or written and takes place until the end of the examination session. A student who did not obtain the credit in the first term is entitled to two retake credits.
5. Failure to pass the second retake date results in an unsatisfactory grade and, consequently, failure to pass the course.
6. In special/random situations, with the consent of the Course Coordinator or his deputy, the student may proceed to the credit at a later date - in accordance with the Study Regulations.
5. Final exam
1. Students who have made up for their absences (§3) and obtained a credit for the subject (§4) are admitted to the examinations.
2. The scope of the exam material is consistent with the course syllabus. Due to the constant progress of knowledge, students are asked to check the current year of publication of books before starting classes in a given academic year.
6. Disputes, complaints, consultations
1. Disputes are resolved by the Class Coordinator or the Head of the Department
2. The student can take advantage of the “consultation hours” after prior arrangement with the secretary office.
3. Complaints and comments regarding the course of classes are received by the Coordinator of the classes or the Head of the Department.
4. Training of students in the field of health, safety regulations, fire protections is done on the first day of classes.
5. Students staying on hospital premises are obliged to familiarize themselves with and follow the hospital's regulations.
6. On the first day of classes, the instructors discuss the rules of Regulations. Students are required to read these Regulations and sign that they have been familiarized with them.
